Can television participate in the generation of an environmental consciousness in Mexican viewers? What kind of environmental content appears in the national networks in Mexico? These questions are tackled in this paper interested in understanding the contribution of television, as a socialization force, in the awareness of the environment in national audiences. The article shows the findings of a content analysis of programs and contents related to the environment in national television during 2003, 2004 and 2005. According to this study Mexican commercial television does include environmental topics, but restricted to stories about nature.Downloads
